May as well. It will be easier to maintain and build. Of course the SUBTARGET options (arcade / mess) would be nice if they could still be used.

I, as long as, you can continue to use the UI separate versions.
I find it more orderly, even for the work that I do

I second that... I prefer them separate as well. Most people I know prefer them separate too. So as long as the MAMEUI Arcade-Only continues to be built, I see no harm in building a combined one too if you or Haze desire.

I suppose such a build could be created, attached to a download counter, then we'll find out for sure if there is such a thing as "the silent majority". There's certainly nothing wrong with a fair trial.

That's a swell idea. Just for kicks, you should put a download counter for the MAMEUI Arcade-Only too... this way you can compare the two. I'd bet my left nut that the MAMEUI Arcade-Only will receive more downloads. (But the results may have a large margin of error due to people downloading them from other sources such as AntoPISA's website, EmuCR, Emu-France, etc.)

I haven't used MAMEUI the past year. If I do use a UI built it's usually MAMEUIFX. I love the marriage of the new MAME/MESS and looking forward to new frontends using the software lists. As for the build just create your own exe for arcade, mess or MAME. I know QMC2 does this but looking for other frontends as well.

They way I see it there isn't a need for separate builds.

The majority of Front-Ends out there support the manual adding of games to a favorites type of category.

So you can create your own favorites custom listing when you want to just see specific games and then click back over to the regular listing when you want access to everything.

Since we are talking about MESSUI here, I would like to ask a question: How can I create a custom list/folder and add systems to this list/folder? This is my major grip with MESSUI since its creation. WHen you click at the "Add to custom folder" option, it opens a blank list(?)...what am I supposed to do here?

Other than that, it suit my needs perfectly. As long as people keep it up to date with every config options available, I'll stick to it.

I have been using QMC2 for a long time, but I never really enjoyed it. And now that the creator dropped the QMC2MESS for good, I dropped QMC2 for good as well.

OK, I've found the answer:

"Works on my 0.124 build, unless something changed since then (I haven't used the UI for ages).

It works in the same manner as MAMEUI - create .\folders\filename.ini in your MESS directory, then edit the ini file with:

Code:
[FOLDER_SETTINGS]

[ROOT_FOLDER]
nes
snes
a2600
etcetera

The ini's filename will be what shows up on the left part, with each driver in your custom list."

I just think you should be able to create all your custom folders directly into MESSUI. By having to create a file through a notepad, it can be confusing/frustrating to newer users.

Also, there's no GLSL option in the new MESSUI 0.162 to enable the GLSL shaders, such as the excellent Timothy Lotte's ones. MAMEUIFX has such options, so I think it could be incorporated into MESSUI as well.

You can drag and drop games to your custom lists too (from within MAMEUI / MESSUI).

And how can I create a list of games that I have? In MESSUI, it only allows me to mount one game at a time. I would like all my games to be listed and ready to run but I didn't figure out how to do it yet.

ALso, I would like to use GLSL shaders with MESSUI. Is there any way to do it with current 0.162 version?

you know that all the QMC2MESS features are now in QMC2MAME, since the MESS component has been merged, don't you?

In fact, yes. But I prefer to have them separately as before. Also, I prefer the simplicity of the MAMEUIFX / MESSUI frontends. Simple but effective. I don't like to have a gazzilion features when a couple of simple things are not good for my personal taste.

i do.QMC is very nice but has too many stuff to tinker with, can can become tedious to configure.mameui is just simpler and more straightforward,so i second that

^This

I prefer MAME UI / MESS UI as well. They need a small facelift but they are better than QMC2 imho.

Since I use MAMEUI and MESSUI only for documentation (screens, titles, mameinfo etc.) I prefer those over too big QMC2 version. For play only groovymame at home and mamefx at work.
