ArcadeVGA 5000 Drivers with Win 7
#340006 - 05/13/15 07:28 PM

Hi everyone,

So I am currently doing a conversion of a Killer Instinct Jamma cabinet to a mame cabinet using a J-Pac and ArcadeVGA 5000. I am using a newer PC that only has SATA HD so decided to go with Windows 7 64Bit.

I have the card installed and everything seemed fine but when I went to install the drivers for ArcadeVGA windows is blocking them because they are "Unsigned drivers". I searched several places on how to override this but apparently you can't override with Windows 7 64bit.

The weird thing is although it blocks it the card does show up under the correct name in device manager but shows an error and says that the drivers are unsigned. It only gives me 2 options for resolution and when plugged into the J-PAC the screen rolls.

I am basically stuck and trying to figure out what my best option is.

- Can I somehow get these drivers working on Win 7 64Bit?
- Should I change OS to something else?

If anyone can offer advice I would appreciate.

Thanks

Hi stef_charle, same problem here. It seems the drivers are not properly signed, so while they don't get fixed you can disable driver signature enforcement in Windows 7 in order to use them.

There are a few methods to do it, but the only one that worked for me were hitting F8 to get the Windows boot options menu and selecting the option to boot with driver signing disabled.

You have to do it every time you boot the computer, so it's a bit of a hassle. Let me know if you find a better way to disable it.

Hope it helps!

You shouldn't have to do that every time you re-boot.

Install the drivers manually to begin with, then when it says the drivers aren't signed say yes that you want to install them anyway. Unless they changed something (or more likely, my memory is a bit off) that should do it.

Make sure you have admin privileges to do the install.

Also make sure that after you install turn off the auto update in the catalyst menu. Otherwise when you do re-boot it'll install the latest & then you'll be screwed & have to start over again.

Also make sure that Winblowz isn't set to download & install updates automatically. Otherwise same situation will occur & it not worky.
If you want you can also set it up to just do main updates & not others. I would have it D/L & alert you to choose what you want to install just to be safe.

Hope that helps.

Pessimist: Oh, this can't get any worse!

Yeah, funny how people don't get that you can say, 'well doo it a-nay-wayyy'.

Just unchecking driver updates in Catalyst should be fine.....except, I think the AVGA drivers don't have Catalyst with them, so you should be fine after installing.
