Google Chrome's new bookmarks is the last straw for me
#339747 - 05/07/15 02:08 PM

Google Chrome just completely changed the browser's bookmarks. It sucks arse. This is the last straw for me. I used to switch between Firefox and Chrome... but now I'm completely done with Chrome.

I recently did the opposite because FF became so slow on my PC and Chrome is super fast but there are things I don't like about Chrome like some youtube vids inexplicably not showing their HD options and I can't fathom why there is not a right-click-on-the-tab option to bookmark pages. But what changed with the bookmarks? Mine shows as up to date and the bookmarks haven't changed.

Update your Chrome to the latest version. And check out your Bookmarks Manager.

Interesting, I've read many people complaining of what a resource hog Chrome is.

Personally, I use AdBlock Plus and NoScript in Firefox and that seems to be faster than Chrome and it's AdBlock.

Also, Chrome still doesn't have an extension like Firefox's NoScript extension. It has similar extensions, but nothing quite as good as Firefox's NoScript extension.

-- In your address bar type: chrome://flags and hit Enter.
-- Search for ‘Enable Enhanced Bookmarks’.
-- Change the drop down to Disabled.
-- Restart Google Chrome.
-- Your bookmarks manager should now be the familiar, sortable, draggable version.

Learned that in 30sec by using Google.

RELAX and just have fun. Remember, it's all about the games.

AdBlock Plus and all its derivatives are slow and resource-intensive. You should really be using µBlock - it's far more efficient and uses the same filter lists:

Thanks for the tip about uBlock. But I'm alil hesitant in making the switch at the moment since it's still in it's Preliminarily Review stage. I'm sure it's fine though. I'll bookmark it and check it out sometime in the near future once it goes through the Full Review.

What does it mean if an add-on is "experimental" or "preliminarily reviewed"?

Experimental add-ons have been checked by our editors to make sure they don't have security problems, but they may still have bugs or not work properly. Use caution when installing experimental add-ons and uninstall the add-on immediately if you notice problems.

Preliminary Review — a faster review intended for experimental add-ons. Preliminary reviews do not check for functionality or full policy compliance, but the reviewed add-ons have install button cautions and some feature limitations.

I don't use Chrome that much (unless I'm at work and in 'incognito mode'). Firefox has a bookmark tool/icon, WAY easier to use... it spoils ya!

As for chrome? I've gotten used to opening up a new tab and selecting whichever bookmark from the ....

Eh, wait. Oh. I can right click, then put a checkmark by 'Show Bookmarks toolbar'. No need for a new tab every time I want to go to a new web-page.

ETA: T0M be like: "Looks like Chrome finally got their shit together."

It's been available for months, and it's definitely better than ABP, etc. Code is available if your paranoid.

Thank you for this.

I've been a long-time user of Adblock Plus and I had never heard of uBlock.
