Hooray. Another dual game now preserved.

Back to the old Sega/Gremlin thread with dip settings for Gremlin/Sega dual game Car Hunt / Deep Scan along with an image of the front cover of Gremlin/Sega Car Hunt / Deep Scan manual.

Whoever tackles the dips settings, may the sheet scan from years earlier be of use.

As for the Car Hunt / Deep Scan service manual, it does have the logic schematics for discrete component audio output for Deep Scan audio board and Car Hunt oscilator board (ie: audio board).

The manual does have a parts sheet for the Deep Scan audio board, but it does not have any parts listing sheets for the Car Hunt audio board (oscilator board as described in logic schematics of the manual). I am guessing the parts listing sheets for the Car Hunt oscilator board were probably removed from the manual over the years. As long as audio logic schematics for Car Hunt are complete, which they are in manual I have, then should be good to go.

A nearly 36-year-old game is preserved, and the Sega undumped list gets shorter and shorter.

It is good to finally see Car Hunt being preserved no matter which region version it took to get there of getting Car Hunt emulated. I'll take it although it would be great if a World/N. American region can be found later.

Remaining vic/dual hardware (undumped Wiki is more complete) games yet to be found:

Deep Scan / Invinco,
Deep Scan / Head On 2, Car Hunt / Invinco and a World/N. American region of Car Hunt / Deep Scan. And for dedicated/single game versions there is both Car Hunt and Deep Scan.

On discrete audio emulation side, regarding vicdual hardware, I was able to get Gremlin Space Attack manual last year with its logic schematics for audio. That leaves only needing to find a manual for Space Trek in case the manual also has a printed logic schematics for audio sounds. Logic schematics for Tranquilizer Gun were also placed online some time ago so that is another vicdual hardware game in which audio could be emulated later.

There is also Samurai, but I doubt that will surface unless someone in Japan has that manual.

>Car Hunt / Deep Scan

I only recall seeing and playing Invinco / Head On 2 cab and that was it. For the time I spent in arcades during the late 1970s, it seems like I would have seen more dual game units. I mainly saw single game units. The dual game unit was probably somewhat rare. The only good game was Head On 2 and that was it.

The company probably created the dual game concept just to unload all their crappy games inventory on unsuspecting vendors back then.

I don't think I've seen those dual games out in the wild. Maybe I played Invinco. I always wondered how to determine where a game was released. Do you think the recent dump was also released in the US? Of course in a slightly different form.

I've tried to determine what region other games came from. I assume at times you can only go by where they were discovered.

Nice find. I hope an English version can be found in the future.

There must have been lots more cabs out there in N. American markets, but only dual game I recall seeing and playing was Invinco / Head On 2. It may have been at a former multiplex walk in movie theatre which was then converted to a savings and loan building.

The recent find was probably only a French/European region only. It was probably known on European arcade forums, but I don't believe the info made its way to other arcade/info sites or else it might have already been added to undumped Wiki or other sites by this time. Even Dan didn't have any French language flyers of this hardware nor any manuals or paperwork out there either. That's why the find is a surprise to me and it makes me wonder if there are other French region dual game titles yet to be found.

There should be other N. American dual game titles yet to be found because I have a few of the dual game manuals at this time, but I guess most of the pcbs may have already been converted to play Carnival since Carnival was very popular in the early 1980s.

As for vicdual, it was probably a World/N. American release with the French language being an exception. It will be interesting if more dual game French language titles are found later.

>At the request of Gregf, here's the actual PCB dumped by Ricky2001.

Thanks. Fortunate that pcb still has labels on the chips. It seems like most of the Gremlin pcbs I have seen listed for auction seem to not have any labels on the chips making it impossible to know what game is on the pcb. Also interesting seeing the 6 position dip being crammed instead of 8 position switch (as what is shown in manual). I wonder if pcb left the factory that way or if it was some previous repair job from years earlier.

>(No discrete sound board)

For the dual game pcb, it should have two audio boards. (Deep Scan and Car Hunt).

>PD: Sorry for the delay...

Nah. It's whenever it can be done and thanks again for posting pcb photo.
