Magnetix Magnetic Building Set
#338002 - 03/24/15 05:34 AM Attachment: magnetix.jpg 576 KB (0 downloads)

So I have two of these sets and apparently, they were recalled back in 2007 so I'm not allowed to sell them on Ebay, and technically, I'm supposed to destroy them, according to the CPSC. Fuck that. Just because some dipshit kid swallowed them doesn't mean I have to destroy stuff that I paid money for. Anyway, I'd like to try to get $50 a piece for them. Anybody know where I might be able to sell them other than Ebay? I was thinking about Craigslist, but it's a cesspool of criminal activity.

Well you're planning to sell a product that's been banned from being sold, so a cesspool of criminal activity would be the place to go.

Only certain magnetix sets were recalled. Yours might not be one of them.

His is recalled.

Consumers should stop using the recalled magnetic sets immediately and contact Mega Brands for a comparable replacement toy.

Replacement Toy?! I wonder what you could get?

"Comparable", but surely not something as appetizing and delicious as chrome coated metal pieces.

I've bought lawn jarts on craigs list... an equally illegal and banned product because one kid out of millions of children threw one up and took it in the skull.

We use them at picnics, and so far no fatalities.

Our legal systems force everyone to follow laws that are there to protect the lowest common denominator - the shitheads and idiots - from themselves (and to protect others from them).

Indeed:

Federal law bars any person from selling products subject to a publicly-announced voluntary recall by a manufacturer or a mandatory recall ordered by the Commission.

It's a weird thing, too, the case that finally got them banned was a crazy 1000:1 shot. A kid hurled one over a house from the back yard, and a little girl standing in the front got it in the head.

?? Why don't they ban rocks or anything that can be used as a projectile while they're at it.

Wait... are you talking about darts or Magnetix?

That's lawn darts or "jarts". Magnetix were banned after a baby swallowed a few of a similar toy and needed surgery.

The ones with the magnets in the clear plastic polygons and/or made before 2007 were recalled; the ones with magnets embedded in cylinders (made after 2007) are not.
