I'll send you a PM with step by step instructions as I'm unsure if another site still has my guide online and I'm not allowed access anymore to check and keep up with it.

Allow a few moments please...

PM sent. Hopefully it's solves the problem of what you're trying to accomplish.

rebuild(er) job with 'remove rebuilt source files' option enabled. then you got all good stuff in the destination and the bad ones still in the source in the end

When I first learned how to batch mode the softlists, what confused me the most was the first time around you have to select *No Rebuilder Run* so all the rom paths get established properly.

Then after the scanner does it's job and first run completes without rebuilding, All the proper Rom-Paths are established and you can select all the profiles you wish and do some batch rebuilding.

well, if nothing appeared in your destination folders, then no files from the source did match (crc / sha1/ size match)...so maybe you should double check if you're using a correct datfile for the files you want to rebuild....

Edit: An be sure you got all sets/softwarelists/etc enabled (Scanner->Scanner Treewindow SetInformation button bottom left)....

Edit 2: ...and there might be sets which require header decoder....

Without seeing more information I can only assume source files doesn't match as Roman indicated.

If you need to PM me some pics if you think it will help.
Perhaps consider doing so on emuversal.

Are the destination paths being created in correct location that you're wanting?

E:\software\pc98

- nothing needs to be done manually

- scanner tree window is the scanner output window which shows details as a tree control...and at its bottom left is a button called setinformation....in the following dialog you can enable/disable sets/sofware lists etc..

The basic question is more like: which database are you using? A direct MESS import (from the exe) with or without software lists...or an external dat...for MESS or single software lists...

Again...if the rebuilder did not create anything in your destination, nothing did match the hashes in the current database...

You probably have something simple not set correctly.

The first step with empty profiler is you would select Add DatFile

Then you are able to either select just one XML or all 353 of them.

Next step when it asks where do you want to put the DATs you would create a directory named software and all that DATs will go in there (folder tree view in left side of CMP profiler)

After the above steps, the entire operation is established in the profiler.

The key is having the 3 batch mode windows (scanner, Rebuilder, Misc) set correctly and off you go. Maintaining everything is pretty simple.

As you have found out RV does work for a lot of people. The last I tried it though, you can't set specific directories or have a root path like roms or software, so It requires everything to be in Toosort or w/e it defaults to and moving stuff back and forth would drive me crazy!

With ClrMAME, in my case, all the XMLs are in roms and that's where my software list directories reside as well.
It only takes a few minutes to batch scan everything and adding the new or updated lists to that profile is extremely simple.

ok...let's see what I did..(and it works flawlessly)

- started cmpro, went to profiler, drop the advision.xml and created a "default" new profile from it
- switched to settings, setup a (new, empty) romfolder for the advision files
- switched to rebuilder (destination is already setup with the just added rompath), now dragged/dropped the messy source files (some bunch of folders/files including advision sets) in the rebuilder window..

That's it...it perfectly created the clean advision (zip) files from the messy source...

...and after that...I went to the scanner, hit new scan...and the scan results window shows no entries...meaning the sets are fine....

so...it's basically Profiler, Settings, Rebuilder and just some clicks...

Checking more than one software lists can be achieved via Batcher...or direct import from MESS binary.
