My ArcadeVGA card died so I ordered a new one. After inspecting the old I thought someone might be able to fix it. It appears two capacitors failed, I have no idea what they are called, but replacing them might make the card work again? See attached pictures. What do you think, worth it to fix?
thanks, Steve

Yeah, you can do it - if your iron is hot enough. That's industrial grade solder, probably silver solder to withstand heat, hence you need to heat to get it. Also make sure your tip is very fine. Get the same capacitors as says on the top of those - the microfarads and voltage marked on the top or/and sides. And make sure you have better ventilation in your case. That's often the reason they go bad, too hot in there.

"That's often the reason they go bad, too hot in there."
And age combined with quality too...

Pessimist: Oh, this can't get any worse!
Optimist: Yes, it can!

I've seen a card or two with burst caps, but never from any machine I've owned, and my most recent card is a Geforce 6800 I bought in thousand eight or nine.
