Arcade Machines with multiple screens.
#332048 - 09/19/14 02:35 PM

Hi, mame emulated varius arcade mame machines with multiples screens.

For example outrunners. If you have a pc with two screens connected, is possible play the games with two players in diferent screen. The first player using the screen one, and the two use the screen two. And they play the game indepently.

The problem is the sound. Because is the same computer for the two. So the two heard her sounds and the friend sounds.(bug?).

I was thinking, is not possible use two sound cards for these cases?. For example, the integrated motherboard sound card for the first player(connected to screen one), and the pci/pci express sound card to the second player(second screen).

PD:another games as final lap, not detect two screens.

Hi! It is unfortunate that MAME doesn't support 2 soundcards simultaneously.
Arcade games that have 2 screens, often simply have stereo speakers. Left speaker for left player, right speaker for right player.

As for final lap, and many more (eg. Ridge Racer 2, or Daytona) it is not a multi screen single arcade game, but a linked network. This will require some additional work by the developers on the MAME core but we'll get there eventually.

OutRunners in real life (and in MAME) has the left monitor's sounds on the left speaker and the right monitor's sounds on the right speaker. This is how the actual cabinets are set up - you will hear the other player's sounds coming from a few feet over, so the "problem" occurs on the real machines too. (The Hard Dunk/Title Fight cabinets are slightly better thanks to the angle the screens are at).

Ah left/right so I can connect A 3,5mm-> rca red connector to screen 1, and white connector to screen 2. XDDD
