I need a few people to test SDLMAME and SDLMESS builds out. r32128.
#331863 - 09/16/14 03:45 PM

These are 64-bit builds. Compile from default. No SDL2 support.

Just seeing anyone have the same issue that I have. Problem is the cfg, nvram and save doesn't want to be made. Folders are empty.

I'm not sure I know what is going on. I can't even save the Final Fantasy nes game from the SDLMESS anymore.

Why not just enter SDL2 land?

Because I can't use these with that.

waitvsync
syncrefresh

Close to 50% speed will drop.

Did you test the builds that I compile to see it saving the settings on your end?

I'm currently at work so I can't test those builds until later this evening.

When I compiled my own SDL2 builds and created my own mame.ini, those settings you listed are defaulted to 0

Since I run with whatever is defaulted, besides having to disable sleep, I get no speed problems here on my end.

No hurry. I will try the SDL2 builds again later on.

Found the problem. It the path problem. Edit 3. new [Re: Dullaron]
#331929 - 09/17/14 09:07 AM

If I removed the folder paths from these then the files will be made.

#
# CORE OUTPUT DIRECTORY OPTIONS
#
cfg_directory
nvram_directory
input_directory
state_directory
snapshot_directory
diff_directory
comment_directory

But if I added the folder paths then it refuses to make the files.

#
# CORE OUTPUT DIRECTORY OPTIONS
#
cfg_directory cfg
nvram_directory nvram
input_directory inp
state_directory sta
snapshot_directory snap
diff_directory diff
comment_directory comments

I guest the folder links are broken at this time. Weird is that the MAME and MESS doesn't have this problem at all.

Edit: Look like the game save can't be saved.

Will try out the SDL2 builds and see the folder paths are working.

Edit 2: SDL2 have the same problem.

Edit 3: Moving on now. Probably will get fix anyway soon as one of the Dev seeing it not doing what it suppose to do.

When setting direct paths for the folder options. Everything works for me except snap and sta

R. Belmont said it should work on the SDL Windows builds. I pointed out to them something is wrong. He wanted to know the non SDL builds works and I said yea. Afterward the thread gotten deleted. So I don't know why the thread being deleted over there at the other forum. I don't think it not linking right somewhere. But there no error shown.

Haze SDL builds works though. (Which is out of date now.)

Maybe someone was working on the changes and then forgotten to finish it? Anyway no idea why it stop linking the paths.

All we can do is play without the savings on the Windows for now. Bug can't be reported until after the 0.155 release.

I can live without F12 snapshots and savestates for the time being.

The shaders look very nice

Interestingly enough you can use the web feature and click the screenshot button to make a snapshot as another option because F12 currently fails and does nothing.

The save/load feature isn't as forgiving though and currently doesn't work.

I found a easy fix. new [Re: Dullaron]
#331991 - 09/18/14 10:43 AM

Some reason SDLMESS will not create folders for the systems snaphots and nvram files anymore because of the changes.

You must make the folders. Other wise nothing will be created in those folders.

For example here.

nvram \ nes

snapshot \ nes

Same for everything else. Call the folders what ever. Don't have to copy me.

It fine on the SDLMAME so far. Must been fix then.

Case close.

What do you mean case closed?

snapshots and savestates are not working as of a 10 minute ago clean compile.

You have to make those systems folders inside of those folders. nes, psu and more. I know it not making those on it own. Haze was talking about this on the other forum. He said he is not compiling these as long there are issues. I told him that I had to make the folders in order it can save and snapshot. Those will get fix. I don't know when. It working here last night as long I added the missing folders.

Edit: No changes from the updated source. Should be half working still. Just remember it can't make the system folders.

The real questions are .. is it SDL related only? Window-SDL related only? Does it happen with SDL made with 0.154 sources (is it a regression)?

No problem on the Ubuntu. Also the Windows Non-SDL builds have no issue as well. Just the Window-SDL related issue. Happen on the SDL and SDL2.

But the SDL2 backspace doesn't work on the game search so I have to hit the Esc to delete the whole name. Forgotten to report this too. Since this isn't default then I don't use the SDL2 builds anyway. Buggy to me.

svn://dspnet.fr/mame/trunk

http://www.mamedev.org/downloader.php?file=tools/mingw-mame-w64-20140905.exe

Hit the setup-Qt.Bat inside the K:\UME\source\trunk\mingw64-w64 then I did make from my Bat file.

Code:

set path=mingw64-w64\bin;mingw64-w64\opt\bin;mingw64-w64\Qt\bin;
make PTR64=1 TARGETOS=win32 OSD=sdl OPTIMIZE=3 SYMBOLS=1 SYMLEVEL=1 -j5
make TARGET=mess PTR64=1 TARGETOS=win32 OSD=sdl OPTIMIZE=3 SYMBOLS=1 SYMLEVEL=1 -j5
rd /s/q "obj\sdl64\"
strip -s sdlmame64.exe
strip -s sdlmess64.exe
pause

No errors on the compile.

The SDL builds posted by Haze at 154 release function correctly without needing to create directories and F12 + save states work properly.

I'm wondering if this reported behavior is from the refracting and other commits from Oliver Stöneberg r32095 - r32099, r32109 & r32110.

I will also make another assumption and think this is strictly Window-SDL related only.

oops sorry Oliver. I forgot about the option of making Tortoise SVN stop at any revision.

I compiled up to r32094 and the reported behavior still occurs.
