huh. So Orange and Silver do have a rhyme
#331596 - 09/11/14 07:37 AM

Orange has almost no perfect rhymes. The only word in the 20-volume historical Oxford English Dictionary that rhymes with orange is sporange, a very rare alternative form of sporangium (a botanical term for a part of a fern or similar plant).

Silver is another word for which it is almost impossible to find a perfect rhyme: the only candidate is the rare word chilver, which the 20-volume Oxford English Dictionary defines as 'a ewe-lamb' (i.e. a female lamb).

Both orange and silver do have half-rhymes, though: the Oxford Rhyming Dictionary gives lozenge as a half-rhyme for orange, for example, and salver as a half-rhyme for silver.

You can always go outside English for a rhyme. I mean, 2 Chainz made it a thing by rhyming "cadenas" with "penis" in that song you couldn't escape last fall.

What's a "2 Chainz?" Sounds like an especially lightweight '80s rapper.

Also, "cadenas" doesn't look like it's very high on the penis rhyming scale.

So, is that a half-rhyme or a half-penis?

Pilfer rhymes with silver........ new [Re: GatKong]

The kind of rhyme you're talking about is by changing at most three letters. It can work with nouns, but is more interesting with verbs and prepositions.

An especially lightweight 2010s rapper. He did a verse on Jason Derulo's "Talk Dirty", which is about banging chicks when you don't speak their language, hehn hehn.

> Also, "cadenas" doesn't look like it's very high on the penis rhyming scale.

He drawls the Spanish 'a' vowel so it comes out "kuh-DEEN-uhs", which sounds like a credible rhyme in context. But "kahh-DEEN-aahs" is correct Espanol.

The actual verse is:

Dos Cadenas, close to genius / Sold out arenas, you can suck my penis

Which may or may not be the official Bin motto.

Silver 1/2 rhyme? new [Re: URherenow]
#331677 - 09/12/14 08:58 PM

To obtain the citrus that was reddish-yellow,
Tom did something that wasn't all that mellow.
He had a devious plan to first obtain silver.
His method would be a sneaky way to pilfer.

I suppose since it's 'ver' -vs- 'fer' that that doesn't qualify as a rhyme.

First, cadenas is pronounced with the same E as in "get", not like DEEN as you said. Second, I don't think anyone is able to distinguish well how he pronounced both "cadenas" and "arenas". And second second, the rhyme is with arenas, not with penis.

To me, not many rappers pronounce an intelligible english to me. Chuck D and that's about it.
