She keeps saying "imaginary 1" when she means "implicit 1". That will confuse people badly when the time comes to learn about complex numbers if they're thinking of the word "imaginary" as meaning "implicit".

Helping my son finish his summer math work and needed a refresher. Only 28 more problems to review.

I don't think we ever even called anything "monomials" in school. It was just "yup, Algebra I, Semester 1. Got it." In fact, they probably left out the term "polynomial" as well, so as to not say "these are different; you may not understand them."

I don't recall the name "monomial". I don't think they used it. But I distinctly remember using "polynomials".

Yeah they were never called "monomials" here either. I think she's just calling the special case of polynomials with a single term monomials.

Corroborating Tomu: even through college here, in America, they said mono and poly.
And, yes, since it's basically arithmetic, it should've been available by third grade. Given that I didn't really graduate barely graduated from high school, had only two semesters in college by the time I started music study, with no background in music, and learned how to comprehend music in formal terms without any reading facility by the middle of my first semester of Intro to Theory, let alone by the end of it, arguably there are better methods than what was gong on at least though the 90s here. (Perhaps still.) Or I'm just that smart.....pick......
