UFO update!
#330238 - 08/20/14 11:03 PM

Not flying saucers. Something I can't explain. But this is what I saw: I happened to be up round 0450 this morning, and I noticed a round light coming from northwest going southeast. It was moving - as in it passed over and was gone into the southeast in maybe ten seconds. Didn't make a sound.

Now, if it was up high, it would had to have been moving at hypersonic speed - in which case it surely would've made a fucking sound anyways. But the 'size' of the light it emitted was too large for it to be that high.

And get this: it was strobing kind of slowly. You know, ebbing and flowing. In fact, it was pure round light. When the light was 'off' there was nothing there.

And: I have seen this before. A few months ago, same trajectory, going some slower, apparently lower, solid ball of light, though not strobing, and it was at dusk.

You're most likely seeing the ISS.

Current position:

Live view from:

The ebbing & flowing dunno. If the light was that bright your eyes just may not have adjusted fast/well enough to see anything. Could have been in part to the large geomagnetic storm that caused massive auroras on the 19th.

My best guess. There are a couple people on here that know a lot more about this kind of stuff than me. Hopefully they'll let me know I'm wrong & tell you what you really saw.

It was Jeb. I installed Ferram, and my rocket's aerodynamics were... dubious, at best. When he went supersonic, the thing was uncontrollable.

Hmm. I think the only way we can be for sure is if you post a video of it. And make sure you comment on it!

Late 90's, along the southern horizon (probably in the wee hours of the morning too), I spotted a bright object that seemed to be shifting from red to blue, like it was pulsing. I was into telescopes back then, and tried to track it, but it was moving too fast to get a good enough fix on it.

Yeah, huhn?! I thought of grabbing my phone, but I'm using Android 2.2 I think, and while I like the stock camera app, the video feature is buggy. I have to start it and stop it at six seconds several times till it stops and is immediately ready. That is, it freezes when I stop it, for a count of about eighteen seconds. And sometimes that doesn't ensure it won't error out after thirty or sixty seconds. I rarely use it, so fuck it.

Curious. Dude, back in '02 I saw something right after sundown that I bet NO ONE can explain. I was driving home from the gym (when I still used such a thing), west, and I saw this thing up and to my left. Looked high and far away. But at the same time it looked BIG. Like a circle at least a thousand meters in diameter, with something nested inside, and perhaps a same size circle bi-secting it, center, across the horizontal.

I pulled into a parking lot, and watched it....drifting....drifting....to the southeast....never getting smaller, never changing in appearance/orientation. Took at least five minutes to get from the southewest corner of town to the southeast. Then it stopped...and seemed to be getting farther away. Still no change in size or shape. Eventually it just faded away.

I wondered about that. The only thing I can figure is if it's rotating, and the solar panels are going into and out of view. Lighting-wise, it was already bright enough to see by, as I'm pretty low in US longitude. Also, it seemed close to being right overheard; more so in the dusk circumstance.

Try to catch the ISS once and awhile. It is kind of cool when it goes into the shadow of the earth it just 'disappears'.

I use this android app it worked pretty good on my 2.2 and 2.3 droidx. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.runar.issdetector&hl=en Think if you buy it you get a few others it tracks. It could also be an iridium flare. Never seen one myself.
