There's speculation that it could be a close recreate of the original Vacuum Fluorescent Display types, or perhaps a modern take utilizing a small LCD and emulation, while retaining truer to the outer casing/housing of the '82/'83 units.

If it was a real VFD and everything I'd buy about 6
My wife got me that one off ebay a few years ago. It's actually pretty fun to fire up every once in a while, and the VFD display is too cool. As a kid, my cousin had the Pacman one, which I absolutely coveted.
Meh...I had Donkey Kong and Pac Man back in the day. Completely disappointed by both. Other than looking neat, they didn't play worth a damn.
If they're going to use good LCD screens and run the arcade code under emulation, then that would make me buy one today, cause thats what I wanted back then.
No way in hell I'm paying $100 each. I didn't paid that much for the Donkey Kong Jr. when it came out and it have better LCD graphics. Better off getting the clones for cheap.
I have a Pac-Man and Donkey Kong that were given to me as gifts for Christmas when they were actually released. My Pac-Man got beat to hell I played it so much. My Donkey Kong sits on a shelf in my family room, still looks like it was never played... because it wasn't. It was awful.
I may pick up a Pac-Man if the outer casing is the same just so I can replace the broken outer case of my original.
Maybe not. It'd have to be pretty dirt cheap. The games were pretty bad.

Are you talking about the Donkey Kong Jr. that was flat, about the size of a small calculator? I have one of those too. It also wasn't very fun and the B&W LCD didn't help add to the realism.

How did they manage to make DK so bad? DK worked really well as a Game and Watch LCD.

1) no one is asking you to.
2) hardly $100 each: 5 units, plus a beat Frogger, plus 2 of the "power packs", also in CAN$, so still cheaper with the conversion.
5) buy the re-release when they are available then - will still have the same graphics more than likely (just like it when Frogger was remade not that long ago). Unless of course they update it.
And the LCD version didn't have much better "graphics"
Are they horrible, yes by today's standards, but back in the 80's they were no different than any other "hand held". Back then you wanted better graphics, buy the console or go to the arcade.

It orange with a mirror in the back. My aunt have it now. She a DK Jr. keeper. LCD have a big animated birds and things. Anyway I broke the door under the machine so I gave it to her. By the way. It have a alarm and clock built in it. Plus it have a A and B mode.
I do have the Donkey Kong Jr. B/W LCD clone game on my iPad. Name is Donkey Kong 2. iTunes pull it so it not there anymore. There a few good LCD games clones on iTunes and Android.

Mine is green but was standard LCD. I'll link to a pic once I dig out the box. Hopefully tonight.
