monitors w/ built-in speakers
#328912 - 07/30/14 04:02 AM

Why?

The most recommended ASUS monitors have buit-in speakers. Who actually uses them, vice an external set? I see it as pointless added cost.

Also the VG248QE seems to come highly recommended but it's not an IPS monitor. Isn't IPS supposed to be the best technology right now?

My current monitor is starting to have what appears to be backlight bleed-through around the edges and it's beginning to annoy me when watching movies on it. It's a 1920x1200 monitor and the "highly recommended" ones are 1920x1080. Fine for movies, but I feel like I'd be losing some quality from PC games. What to do...

Just broke my personal record for number of consecutive days without dying!

Take a look at these:
http://www.dell.com/content/topics/topic...;l=en&cs=04

I have the U2312HM and I love it. I can't find anything negative to say about it, except now I want a bigger one. Or two. Apparently the panel itself is from LG.

Their 2412M model is 1920x1200.

U2412M looks good, except that it has an 8ms response time. Ewww...

I guess there isn't any monitor in existance that will do what I want. 120~144hz 1920x1200 minimum resolution IPS. 24" widescreen.3D would be a nice bonus as well.

Free motion blur! lol

I suggested the 2412 because you said 1920x1200.

This is one of the reviews that made me go for the 2312HM:
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/content/dell_u2312hm.htm#gaming

After reading that, I decided that virtually no input lag trumphed 8ms response time...which, according to that review apparently is more like 5ms.

I don't game that much anymore, but I haven't noticed anything affecting my gaming experience on the 2312. Maybe that's because my former main display was a Samsung 943BX or maybe I just don't know what to look for.

Maybe Dell has something with a lower response time now? I really don't know. I know they make some crappy ones for office work. You'll want to look through the models in the "Ultrasharp" series.
