Mame games online with friends?

Hi, im sorry if this topic has been covered (im sure it has).
I would like to play multi-player mame games like Simpsons arcade and x men arcade over the internet with friends. upon alot of research, many trials and all errors, I haven't been able to make this happen. Can anyone please give me an "idiots guide to multi-player mame over internet" prease tia
