IV-Play quits immediately
#326268 - 05/26/14 09:12 PM

I downloaded IV-Play 1.5.5, copied the exe to my Mame directory, and ran it. It launches then immediately quits. No windows appear. No errors. Nothing in the Windows event log, either.

If I leave it in the IV-Play directory that it unzipped to, then it launches, asks me to locate my Mame binary, then opens the IV-Play window. Unfortunately this won't work because it can't find any of my roms (and I don't see where to provide it with a rom path).

How do I get it to work properly in the Mame directory? Or is there any debug information I can provide?

This is on Windows 8.1 64-bit with mame64.exe.

Based on your other thread you need to sort out your MAME directory structure.
Get baseline Mame working in c:\games\MAME for example with the \roms in the right place and then IV/Play should work too if you place the IV/Play files in the same directory as the MAME .exe allowing it to use the MAME structure. See the IV/Play users guide.

like John IV said put mame and all related files, outside of Windows' "Program Files" folder.

or if you insist to keep it in "Program Files" folder, then right click and run it as admin.

also if you had a very old romset, you will need to rebuild it with clrmamepro tool

Thanks for the tips. I simply moved C:\Program Files\Mame to C:\Mame, and then IV-Play ran without a problem. So apparently it doesn't like being in Program Files.

If it's in there you might try telling it to run as admin. I keep it in a separate directory.
