I got a USB-ZIF adapter (pictured here: http://www.microsatacables.com/usb-to-50-pin-ide-zif-hdd-adapter-with-usb-cable/) that isn't working properly. I have already sent a message to the seller: "I am having trouble with the USB-ZIF Adapter (http://www.amazon.com/Micro-SATA-Cables-Adapter-Cable/dp/B005YGRQ0W) that I recently purchased. I am using it with a Toshiba MK8034GAL HDD from a Sony DCR-SR68 camcorder. When I plug it up to a computer, the red light comes on and the hard drive spins up, but the computer doesn't detect it. Neither the adapter, nor the hard drive, shows up in device manager or disk management. I have tried it with different USB cables, USB 2.0 & 3.0 ports, and computers running Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8. Is the adapter or ZIF cable defective, or is it not compatible with the Toshiba MK8034GAL hard drive?"
I feel like I'm missing something simple, but I've spent hours trying to figure it out with no success...

I seem to remember some drives are SATA based and others IDE based, the two aren't compatible and some adaptors won't 'attached' to the system unless it detects a drive present, so perhaps that's your issue?
