A 944 with the weird-arse front bumper required for the US regulations of the day? Or is that the 924 with the US regulation bumper? Hard to tell them apart.

Google answers all questions: LINK
In case that r-e-a-l-l-y long Google images link doesn't work, see attached image, or you can do your own Google images search (will need to do this anyway if you want to actually *go* to any of the links... :P )

Awesome little car, but be sure to leave a piece of cardboard under it at night. King of the slow-drip oil leak....

Good tip. I've been reading up on maintenance for the past week or so, and it does seem that there are several places that experience seepage. Haven't seen any from this one yet (knock on wood).
The photo I linked isn't of mine, but an identical one I found on the web. Haven't taken any photos of mine yet. It's an '86, non-S, non-Turbo, US-spec car with Reagan-era bumpers. Under 100K miles, very clean and well-maintained.
I bought it from a Porsche-phile friend who's going through a divorce and liquidating his toys. He had just sold his 996, and must have been in just the right mood when I offered him half of his asking price for the 944 in cash. I might just play with it for the summer and flip it for a profit, we'll see.

Sweet. My cousin had one when he was just out of high school. It was something of a high mileage beater, but still lots of fun. As I recall, he had it a few years until a fender bender did it in. He couldn't afford the bodywork to put it back together, so he just ended up selling it.

In the old world of F-14 maintenance there was a saying: If it's not leaking, somthing is empty...

Just broke my personal record for number of consecutive days without dying!

Personally, I would re-paint it lime green with a big airbrushed pot leaf on the hood...but to each his own
