Metal Slug - Super Vehicle-001 crashes when loading save state

Paperboy crashes when loading save state.

Win XP 32-bit

EDIT: It was metal slug - super vehicle-001, not Paperboy.

Works fine here on MAME 0.153 (64-bit) under Windows 8.1. Did you make sure to delete the nvram since last updating MAME?

Sorry, wrong game. I was playing a bunch of games late last night and one of them definitely crashed the emulator... I tested it a bunch of times. I thought it was Paperboy, but I was mistaken. I can't recall which game it was, but when I do, I'll post it.

Are you running 0.152 or 0.153? All neogeo games may crash when loading savestates in 0.152. It was you who reported that bug, months ago. It should be fixed in 0.153.

MAMEDEV.org binary for MAME 32-bit 0.153, using -autosave, was able to start and stop mame and restart a few times throughout the first level until the boss where I met game over - no issues with restarting save.

I don't know how to reproduce but I can confirm MSLUG randomly crashes MAME at "Initializing..." message during startup. I don't think it's save-states related, looks like more something not correctly cleared/initialized at startup. Maybe those Z80 NMI changes applied recently to the driver?

Only other possibility that has been confirmed is using -cheat. Crashes happen for 32-bit due to complex cheats - which seem to be mostly for neogeo games (and some other fighting games). The next cheat release should have these fixed up.

My God, I have cheats enabled... Without the option enabled all is fine now. Though I can confirm on 64-bit too but randomly, not every time I launch the game.

Same here. I sometimes forget to disable them before determining if it's a bug or not. I always remember to delete the NVRAM and CFG, but the disabling the cheats sometimes slips my mind. (Save States for the game work fine too.)
