Touch screen query...
#324497 - 04/11/14 04:34 AM

Just bought a used 19" WG17000, looks good at a good price. It has a touchscreen added to it. I don't need that right now and I don't want to remove it because I know it's a pia to do and who knows for down the road, I could use it.

My question is about running it with that still attached. It's not hooked up to anything so it shouldn't be a problem right? But, when I turn the monitor on, the thing(harness connector) arcs to the chassis, like an inch or two arc from where the cord is strapped to it. Is it normal for those to ground out like that? Static or ? Obviously I need to isolate it. Is it harming anything? Do I want to touch it?(LOL, right!) I don't want to use it until I know what I'm dealing with and I can't find any info on the Googler other than where to buy a kit.

Thanks all...

Pessimist: Oh, this can't get any worse!
Optimist: Yes, it can!

Arching is definitely a bad thing. What's worse is that it's arching without being plugged in to anything?

The monitor itself has an issue somewhere. Either not grounded properly or something is shorted. My first thought is "fire hazard".
