$2 each. 5 minutes of soldering an old hard drive connector on. cant beat that.

no... what exactly are you soldering HDD connecters (ISA, I'm assuming?) to HDD connector and keyboard doesn't compute.

I'm guessing he's using a hard drive cable as a loom.

Bingo.

I have many male/female 20x2 pin connectors on hand. Seemed the easy choice, being a cheap ass 'n all. Soldering any type of decent wire size to encoder board isn't a good idea, and ribbon gauge seems just bout the limit. This is a nice translation medium, and provides a disconnect.

ipac = $40.
this = $3.

Don't you run into issues with ghosting and/or jamming, though?

Not that I've ever noticed. Not the hardest-core of gamer though.

Is the cable itself a 40 wire or 80 wire? The 80 wire was made to get rid of (to some extent) the ghosting/crosstalk issues allowing the mind blowing ATA 133 speeds

Pretty sure he was referring to ghosting due to the cheap keyboard encoder, not the cable. :-)

That's a virtual pinball table he's a making. Very few inputs, so I doubt ghosting will present itself.

Scifi frauds. SF illuminates.
