[Annc] MameUI Source Update
#323899 - 03/29/14 04:36 AM

Thanks to Mamesick and Robbert; this will allow MameUI to build on the latest mainline in SVN if you roll your own.

No bins yet since .153 hasn't released.

Great. Maybe someone, such as EmuCR or Try2Emu, will start releasing these SVN MAMEUI 32-bit builds. Wishful thinking. They already do it with MAME SVN builds, so it's possible they will start doing it with MAMEUI now that it's possible.

Or, you could just do it yourself. It's quite easy.

Let me roll out the standard shame speech: over at bannister.org we've got dozens of life-long Mac users who compile MAME and MESS from SVN on a regular basis. You aren't stupider than a Mac user, right?

Doesn't compute. Perhaps it's only because I'm so familiar with windows + dos, but Doing anything unusual on a MAC seems awkward and/or complicated. Worse than using a modern Linux distro even. I'll take windows explorer over finder any day of the week as well.

I just think it takes a bit of brain power and patience to get things done on a MAC other than surfing the 'net and watching movies and such.

The traditional slam on Mac users is that they're too dumb to run Windows and I was playing into that stereotype. Nowadays as someone who uses all 3 major OSes on a daily basis I think absolute usability is pretty similar, it's just largely what you're used to. And every platform has something to recommend it. I really miss the Mac's gesture-sensing mouse on the other OSes, for instance. It's a ridiculous-bordering-on-unfair productivity boost for a lot of kinds of work.

I picked up a Microsoft touch mouse for 75% off. Older model designed for Windows 7, but it works fine on 8... and I don't know what I ever did without it. I go nuts at work not having one! (wireless mice/keyboards are taboo)Yes, gestures are super cool. Still don't want a touch screen though.
