Am I stupid for wanting to see it first-hand?

Where I am, ash will be a HUGE problem (I'm between the 18cm and 30cm zones as predicted... add rain to that and you have issues), but I'm not in any danger of getting hit by magma and the like. I am close enough to get decent pictures of it on a clear day though. Some moisture/haze and I can't see it.
I probably have no more than 2 years left in the area so if it's going to happen within the next five, I'd rather it happen within the next ONE. It would suck for an eruption to happen just after I leave (I'd really like to snap my own shots of it).

I'd watch Dante's Peak and that horrid Volcano movie with Tommy Lee Jones and stay there until it happens. Not stupid.
