Cheap miniature speaker
#323313 - 03/14/14 05:50 AM

My kids have a little toy piano thing that they absolutely adore, which now sounds like it has a blown speaker. I took it apart and it looks like the speaker should be easy enough to replace, if I can find a close enough part. Does anyone know where I can get a 1.5" round, 16 ohm, .25 W speaker? Digi-key and Mouser don't seem to have much, and I haven't had any luck just Googling.

Try Parts Express. They have a ton of stuff like that. Just replaced my Turbo woofer from there. Cheapo to high end...

Well, they just closed 1100 of them. Most of the ones I've been in recently had like one drawer of components, way in the back, with a handful of capacitors in it. No one working in the store had any idea what they were for.

There actually is a place near here called You Do It Electronics that is what Radio Shack used to be. I'm going to check them out, but the fact that I'm not finding much online doesn't give me a lot of hope. It seems like a 16 ohm mini speaker is a bit of an oddball part.

You can use one and have 604 replacements handy!

Or if it's that rare, resell in ebay with a 1500% benefit.

LOL I didn't realize that is wasn't stocked. I buy stuff from there once in a while. I like them because there is usually no minimum order. Maybe try DigiKey.
