Saving Settings
#323087 - 03/09/14 06:21 PM

Does anyone know why MAME won't save any settings ? I change things like the pincushion and the flicker of the lines, but every time I play the game again, it goes right back to normal. Also, why doesn't MAME list every game that you have ? It only shows about a half dozen or so.

Are you changing the settings in the game under the TAB function? If so it won't save it. You have to make the changes in the mame.ini file.

Ah. That makes sense. Is there a way to save settings for individual games ? The settings I want aren't the same for all the games.

Yes all you have to do is copy the mame.ini and rename it to the rom of the game and make the HLSL settings for it. Make sure you place it in the ini folder.

And leave it as an ini, I'm guessing ?

I've tried doing this for Satan's Hollow to make the scanlines less prominent, but it doesn't work for that. Does work for the brightness and gamma, though. Putting ini files for individual games doesn't seem to work for things like scanline darkness, which doesn't even exist in the mame.ini file, or defocus.
