I got two new gadgets. Both are water clocks. One is like the traditional sand clock but instead uses a coloured liquid in a water-filled cylinder, falling around a helix ramp. The other is like your usual digital desktop clock but works with water.

Sometimes I don't know if having money is a blessing or a curse. Not having it might not be the best solution, tho...

They call it a "liquid timer" but don't indicate the time it keeps.
I'd like a ˝ hour timer to use for the kids.
They'll get ˝ hour to eat dinner then it's dinner-over. Too bad, so sad.

Well, it's like a sand clock. The amount of time it measures is 1. Correspondence to certain known time units depends a lot. Mine takes about 7m30s from the twist to the last drop falling through the bottom. Sometimes a very-last tiny drop might fall but it's so small that it takes about a minute more to reach the bottom.
It's just another cute gadget for informal desktop decoration or usage. It comes in random colours but I wanted the purple. And here I have it in all its purple and lime-green glory. And I like it a lot!

Pharmaceutical companies give those "timers" out as free schwag - I didn't realise anyone actually paid money for them :P
