Golden Tee games, Tournament Edition vs. Originals

The flyers of the Tournament Editions of the Golden Tee games says there are a couple new courses or something like that IIRC. But when playing the T.E. games, I couldn't find any of the new courses. So do the T.E. games have any new/extra/different courses than their original?

Where are these alleged "Three New 18-hole courses for Tournament Play"? I don't see any new courses that the flyers of the Tournament Edition clones of the Golden Tee games claim to possess.

Maybe they have to be unlocked By playing through the main courses??

I wonder if it requires multiple machines to be linked up and something else conditional during tournament play.

I think you have to be dialed in to IT's no-longer-existing servers for those games to play the extra courses. Not positive though.

Those 3 are the "NEW" 3 for '98. In '97 you had the same three from before, Pine something and the other regular 2. Do you have any idea how long it would have taken to download on those old modems! All the ITS stuff did was check the Tourney leaderboards and d/l the online player stats you could play against and also that you were registered and had paid your monthly fee to them. Cool at the time... Be sweet if someone could set up a free server and all that jazz to use with MAME... Never happen though...
I've still got my old ITS manuals here if you really wanna see them & can't find them on the Googler somewhere. Last one I have is from GT FORE! '04 or '05 I think.

Never is a long time, it might but don't count on it.

On the 90s ones there were just eproms so there would be nowhere to download new course data to, but it would have been possible to lock some out and download a security code. I'm sure that wasn't the case, but it would have been possible.

I find this fascinating... that with all the knowledge of MAMEWorld members and other arcade enthusiasts, that the answer to my question, about such a popular arcade game series, is not known.
I doubt the arcade flyers would make those statements without the existence of the new courses. They have to exist because multiple arcade flyers from other games in the series mention new courses as well. So it can't be that they were planning on adding it to the game but was cancelled for some reason.
This is a complete mystery! A Top 10 Arcade Mystery!
What are the possibilities?- They are locked
- They are hidden
- They are played online on the server
- They need to be downloaded from the server
- There are missing boards that still haven't been found and dumped by arcade preservists.
What are the other possibilities ? Let's discuss . So stop watching for a moment, grab a (and maybe a ) and lets try to solve this mystery . Hopefully we will be able to solve this.

Bad A Billy's answer is correct. I was just saying it would have been possible to hide courses and have an internet connection unlock them.

Yeah, there's no way the data isn't in the ROMs, but requiring a server connection to unlock them (for instance, by sending the decryption key over the modem) would've been entirely feasible.

Some of the DDR games have codes you enter in test mode, at some point I need to reverse engineer the algorithm they use.
