Dungeon Keeper

No, not THAT Dungeon Keeper. The original one.

Free from GOG for the next (a bit less than) two days.

Well... publicity surrounding the game has made it an insanely popular "purchase" just now, and there seems to be a wait of... more than half an hour so far. I've been instructed to wait for an email.

The interest in the old game is due to outrage over the new mobile remake...

Whoa, sweet... I almost feel bad, my library of free GOG games is something like 5 times the size of the paid ones. I'd love to support GOG more, but I've already got more games than I'll have time to play for the next 5 years.

That game was published by EA. The original was from Electronic Arts (1997 - they had a couple years left). I decided not to mention them in the original post.

Besides, King has been taking some heat off EA lately. I would buy CandySwipe, a game which predates their candy-themed game, looks... rather similar, and is being targeted by them for infringing on their copyright (search for details), but it doesn't display properly on my phone.

I loved the original Dungeon Keeper. Used to play it on the company LAN, and we'd have epic wars. I remember you could zoom into any character and play them in the 1st person view. I used to be able to sneak into an enemy dungeon by controlling a minion in the 1st person and hugging close to the walls..the other guys wouldn't notice me.

Good times.

I clicked on the link last night and my email came this morning after 10. It just has a link to my GOG library, but the game is there ready to download when I feel like downloading it.

Yes. It took about two and a half hours. If the main page at GOG is telling you to "enjoy your game" in the DungKeep banner (where the button to get it was), then you're in the queue. They're trying to keep the whole world from downloading it at the same time.

Now I remember why I never got into that game...

The GUI kills my eyes... I love the concept, but it literally gives me a headache straining to see what the hell (literally... what the hell... ) is going on.

Clean that up diablo-esque and it would be KILLER!

I still enjoy it, i just take a motrin first.
