If you really want to, Raxco PerfectDisk can defrag the "System Reserved" partition.

that partition is usually around 100MB or so. In the 90's it would have been relevant, but now it's too small to bother. There will be basically no performance gain unless he's rocking a 5200rpm drive with a 40ms seek time.

I read a lot of people on the internet saying do not defrag it. Defrag will mess it up. So I won't do it.

About around 350MB.

You don't have to tell me that. I didn't say that he should do it or not do it for whatever reason.

All I did was provide a way to do it.

Could defrag it offline from a Windows PE disc. Would have been better to install Windows into an existing partition to avoid the stupid SRP altogether. I know you can with Windows 7, not 100% sure about Windows 8. I believe it is only truly needed if you use BitLocker. I eliminated my SRP from my Windows 7 install.

Yes, the SRP is only created when you let the Windows 7 installer format the drive.

Not sure what happens with it when installing Windows 7 in UEFI mode, I haven't done that yet.

Makes a required EFI system partition as AFAIK UEFI can't read NTFS drives but it can read Fat32 and so Windows makes a EFI Fat32 part with the UEFI equivalent of BCD. Don't think you can really avoid it as such
