OMG! I never notice Machio lands on his supposed hurt foot and quickly changes feet…
I ALWAYS thought he snap-kicks WITH AND THEN LANDS ON the good foot… which, if you try it, you will definielty spill what ever cereal you are holding in your hands at the time.

It has recently been bothering me. Wouldnt a snap kick to the head like that get you disqualified in a contest like that? MMA this isnt ...

It always bothered me how much he telegraphed his move. I know that the Cobra Kai's hadn't seen anything like it before, but if some doof was standing there like a praying mantis, I think you'd instinctively go low, or parry instead of charge right at him.
Anyway, THIS is a proper crane kick

a, Any attack to the opponents head, face, neck with the open hand, fist or any
part of the arm. Except in exceptional circumstances, this will normally merit an
automatic disqualification.
b. Kicks to the groin.
c. Head thrust or butts.
d. Kicks to any part of the knee joint.
e. Knee kicks while grabbing the head or neck.
f. Elbow strikes to any part of the opponents back,
g. Striking or kicking an opponent who has been downed, unless the attack or
strike immediately follows the sweep or downing technique, in which case contact
is not allowed.
h. Making an attack from the floor after having been downed by the opponent, (this
should not be confused with an opponent defending himself whilst on the floor].
i. Grabbing or holding an opponent or his gi.
J. Failing to obey the referee's instructions during a bout.
k. Any other techniques or practices that the referee of the contest shall decide
is improper or unfair.
No mention of a kick to the head here. You need to think twice if you're participating in full contact martial arts and you're unable to block a foot that has to travel from the floor, all the way up to your head.
