What a shitty game. It's laggy as hell to play and eats through CPU. The people claiming HTML5 can replace Flash now are deluded. Increasing the viewport size like that changes gameplay dynamics - bigger isn't necessarily better. And he seriously can't expect to copy all the game assets and get away with it. That's just nuts.

I don't get the "full-screen" moniker. I figured you could go backwards through the level...nope.
Yeah it's really laggy, even on my "decent" machine. "Full screen" on my 29" monitor, even more laggy.
And yeah...you really can't expect to make a game with an iconic character like Mario or Sonic and not expect some flak from the origin companies.

The strategy to play changes since the enemies appear much sooner / farther away. Nice gimmick though.

Of course not, but the Washington Post article he linked makes a good point about the absurd length of copyright these days. Copyrights were originally intended to be similar to patents for creative works, they gave you a limited period of exclusivity to capitalize on your idea before the rest of the world was allowed to make use of it. Thanks to corporate influence on our corrupt government (Disney, mostly), copyright has been perverted to last, essentially, forever. It's bad for innovation, it's bad for our culture, it's bad for everything except corporate profits.
EDIT: Just had a chance to play it... yeah, it's pretty clunky.

As an occasional "artist" I fully agree.
