'Nintendo Dolphin' Somehow sounds familiar, I have no clue why though...

Codename for Nintendo Gamecube. So I assume that's some devkit.

(Those Gamecube emulator guys also called their emulator "Dolphin" )

Dolphin was the development codename for the Gamecube. I'm guessing that is what was sent to software developers who were working on Gamecube launch titles.

Sophos indicates that page will pwn you hard with some kind of virus, but pulling it up on my phone it's a bog-standard GBox devkit for the Gamecube. The big slot is for a cartridge with a laptop drive in it that emulates the DVD. And yes, they had the dolphin logo all the way through the run of the system. That's why the part number for GCN related stuff is DOL-, just like the Wii's is RVL- for "Revolution".

There's an earlier GDev devkit with a similar form factor but it's beige, stands up vertically like an ATX PC, and lacks the DVD emulator slot.

Those dev kits are always interesting. Had one for Turbo Gfx/Duo and Lynx.

When I used to work at Dynamix, I remember seeing a box of "junk" in one of the team areas that had one of those blue development systems for the original PlayStation, and a bunch of what looked like prototype cartridges for various consoles with hand-written labels. I don't think the Dynamix ever released anything on a console, but maybe they were thinking about it at one point.

Dynamix shut down about a year after I left. I bet all that stuff got tossed in a dumpster. I probably should have swiped it on my way out.
