I'll try it later but I doubt it works. I've been downloading YT videos for years. The difference is YT doesn't give a shit about that and Netflix does. It is just really starting to feel like a waste of bandwidth to watch terabytes of stuff and have it auto delete so I have to spend more bandwidth on it again. It's really stupid.

Except, wouldn't you have to waste terabytes of disk space to store it? Bandwidth, for me at least, is effectively free. I pay the same price each month whether I use 1 kilobyte or 1 terabyte. Disk space, as cheap as it is, still costs me money. Personally, I'm happy to burn the bandwidth and let Netflix bear the cost of storage.

Different for me. Comcast has my account limited and I've actually had to send discs to people in the mail instead of uploading so I don't go over and get charged extra. Also, movies/tv shows are only up for a time period. It feels like a waste to me.

Well... it's a long way around, but I've got a box (I'm at work, I forget it's name... I'll repost when I get home) that captures the output to my television and makes it into a digital movie file (I also forget the type of file it makes).
I bought it to convert analogue video camera output into digital, and discovered it records anything as seen on my tv screen.
That would do it for you.
It's not what you were asking... I know you want to use the actual feed and capture it, but it would work.

I know about those things but my connection sometimes has pauses where it needs to catch up and unless it's a 20 min tv show I pause it (sometimes over night) and also that would recompress it and thus lower the quality. So I just want download only. But thanks.

I'm not sure. I think what happens a lot is they sell packages as unlimited but are actually measuring everyone, and for the few outliers going over a limit, they send an email saying you are now on a limited amount. It reminds me of a few years ago, I got a call from Comcast saying I was in the top 1% of bandwidth users and they asked if I had an unsecured wireless network because people around me were probably tapping into my router. I was going crazy with downloads, but these days with HD Netflix etc. I'm sure tons of people are using that much bandwidth.

It's called a fair usage policy. It's a crap scheme for companies to make more money off their Hi-end users. It will say unlimited with normal use, which basically means "we will supply you until we figure out that you use proportionally more bandwith/caller credit (the problem here is mostly in mobile phone plans) in which case we will inform you that compared to all the other users YOU ARE NOT KEEPING YOURSELF TO THE NORMAL RULE!
So pay up!

I've still got a horribly low monthly cap of 40GB, but with the stipulation that they monitor usage at night, not during the day (there are specific hours).

Comcast's cap is 250GB per month, or at least it was back when I was a customer. They had an app to monitor your usage, and on my absolute heaviest month I just about hit 200GB. That was with streaming movies, multiple BitTorrents, plus all of our regular usage. Most months I never went over 100-150. I'd bet the average, non-geek customer never even gets to 100. If you're hitting the cap often enough for Comcast to start throttling you, I'd say you're at the pretty extreme end of heavy usage.

Looks like the summer download season has been a bit slow.
