DU Update: It's 2013 and the Japan version of Tekken Tag is still broken
#312242 - 07/30/13 06:43 PM

We got a dead Tekken Tag (Japan) board to try and fix the Japan sets in mame. If everything goes well it should do that and possibly add another Japan set.

Wow. Something "interesting" happened with the power supply going into that board - 3 capacitors blew clean off the PCB (C43, C46, and C57). Hopefully the ROMs aren't fried.

Well I'm getting consistent crcs and a lot of them match sets already dumped so, so far so good.

Nice! If you have something else S12 around you could probably fix it by swapping the daughterboards and the keycus to the other motherboard and then it would have some resale value.

Probably wired up incorrectly with one or more of the output voltages having the polarity reversed. Very like Power supply failed and board blew after new power supply fitted.
I wouldn´t expect the ROms to be fried and would think the board to be salvageable at reasonable cost, replace missing SMD electrolytics, one or two SMD voltage regulators and a few wire links put in if vias or tracks are burnt out.

Might possibly just be the audio amp section that blew up. I don't remember the pinout on the S12 extra connection, but it has the stereo speaker outputs and extra inputs on it, and it appears that one of the pins is scorched. Possibly an amp short, but I haven't looked at a S12 board in years.

Grab many of the dead board as you can. Good things will magic happen.

Hello sir, I'm new to MAME and I have no idea how to navigate this forum, but is there any progress on TTT Japan version? Is this the A3 version that never worked on MAME? That version has lots of beautiful glitches which were removed in later installments.

Ah I see, I don't know how you guys do it, but I'm glad we have a working copy of the US TTT, thanks for the quick reply!

Is it down to the zero amount of Japanese arcade machines to port it? Or is it all just broken? I'm very interested in this process

Basically I'm a Tekken combo maker, I make combo vids for characters on a regular basis (a bit too regular lol)

The emulation has never been complete for the Japan sets as far as I remember. There are roms marked as bad dumps but they aren't bad as far as I can tell, at least not in TEG1/VER.C1.

Ah well, hopefully in the future someone will fix it, I saw some amazing glitches in that version
