I know it's much more involved and goes deeper than this....but....I always find it funny when people complain about invasion of privacy when it comes to Facebook/Twitter and the like....while they voluntarily post every detail, thought, likes and dislikes, and photos of their life for all to see.
Also are people surprised by this? I figured this was pretty obvious and had been happening since the early days of the internet.

What it boils down to is the fact that US Constitutional protections only apply to US citizens, and even we have to fight to retain those sometimes. If you're a foreign national living, working, or doing business in the US, any right to privacy you have is at the government's discretion. It's not pretty, but that's how our laws are written.

Yea, they were definitely doing that looong before 9/11. Just gave them a reason not to have to hide it anymore.
Side note: Remember as a kid, on TV & real life, when the cops would do a wire tap? That guy from the Village People would have to strap on the boot spikes, climb the pole outside the house, & re-configure the lines in the box so they could eavesdrop from the station? Without being seen by the ALLEGED perp! (Usually no warrent...) Most on here won't have a clue what I'm talking about!...
