Question about new glow effects...

I really like the new glow effects implemented in hlsl. Looks great with the vector games. However, the effect also works on all my other games, where it makes the screen to bright. I can't find where to disable it through the regular slider controls. Does anyone know how to go about disabling the glowing effects for the non-vector games?

Raster games actually do have bloom for the same reason vector games do (the fundamentals of a CRT display are the same between the technologies, after all). It's just it should be a bit less for them; that will be implemented in due time.
ETA: Moogly suggests dropping the raster_bloom_scale setting in your mame.ini from 0.25 to 0.225.

raster_bloom_scale 0.165 seem perfect to me.
This will fix the brightness issue on the non vector games.
It did fix the psu csotn Komami logo on MESS.

Thank you both for your help I agree, the .165 settings works the best at lowering the glow effect for the non-vector games
Edit: By the way, another issue I've noticed. I'm trying to run sf2hf & it keeps listing a bunch of files that are missing. I've compared every file to the sf2hf.zip & they're all there. Not asking for roms (obviously), just wanting to know if anyone else is able to play the game?
---> actually, nevermind. Figured it out. For some reason, the rom files had to be in the ROM folder where the MAME.EXE file is. I had the roms folder somewhere else, and although the ini file was pointed to that other location, it wouldn't recognize the sf2hf.zip file. But all other games seem to load just fine from there

Second the notion, if it matters to anyone. I found a setting of 0.22-0.24 to be best*. I'm on the fence as to which of the three I like the most; ~0.225-0.23 would be a happy medium.
Thanks, RB...And Moogly of course - It helped confirm my findings and trial observations.
*EDIT: This includes having a respectable amount of scanline darkness or shadow mask applied.

This setting seems to work the best for me as well. .225 was still to bright on white graphics and took away the scanline effects because it was way to bright.

Thanks for this advice. Much appreciated. Will try this setting.
