Finally getting started

So the X-Arcade stick is in the mail and I traded a microwave oven for an old PC to use as MAME machine.
I've spent the day installing drivers for the graphics card and sound device (Mame gave me error codes for both and the problems were easy to fix).
Now however when I try to run the emulator the computer re-boots. No message or anything. I looked at direct X next, I have a version called 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
It runs on a Windows XP Home 32x
It has a seperate Graphics card 7300GS
It has an integrated sound device (Realtek HD Audio, driver downloaded and installed today)
Motherboard is msi k9vgm-v
Anyone have any ideas? I'm stuck.

I would recommend you:
-Install HWMonitor and prime95 to see if your processor isn't overheating.
-Verify if your ram sticks are clean and tightly secured onto the motherboard, then test it with Memtest86 or something else.
-Test your hard drive for bad sectors.
-Try your video card with any stress test.
-Reinstall your mother board, video card, etc, drivers.
-Test different video card drivers.
-If nothing accuses hardware errors, make a fresh windows install.

99% it's your video card driver... it's too new. 32-bit OS's such as Windows 2000 or Windows XP and GeForce cards using latest Geforce drivers have this issue with MAME (or rather, have an issue which caused blue screen/reboots). You'll need to find an older driver from 2011 or earlier if possible in order for things to work well once again.

This is known to happen on Windows XP with MAME and Nvidia cards older than about the 8000 series. I believe a newer OS or newer video card will fix the problem.
The good? news is that there's on-board video on that motherboard, so just removing the nvidia card and using that might work as well. It's original-gen Athlon 64 so MAME performance is going to be, uhh, highly questionable anyway.
Otherwise, you build a PC with junk parts, you take your chances.

Tested the newest first, then the oldest.
Same glitch.. Black screen reboot, no messages.
could try others, but it feels like just guessing wildly.

I don't know how to read this. But I attached a HWM textfile.

They're on there alright. Haven't tested yet.

Ran it, no errors or bad sectors

Ran Geeks 3D Fur mark. It reaches like 68 degrees Celsius. Full screen benchmark test. good/bad? Core 550 Mhz, mem 540 Mhz. mem load 21%

I'm now installing Win Vista instead.
