Help....MAME is not switching to the proper res

Hi guys. I don't know what happened but for some oddball reason MAME is now switching my display to 1920x1080 when running in fullscreen mode. 1920x1080 is my displays native res, but I have MAME set up to switch to 800x600. I have switchres set to 1 and video set to display 1. Here is what the video options in my ini file looks like:

I'm running version 148u2 in Windows 7. My GPU is an nvidia 680GTX 4GB. Video signal is going through a receiver and then to my front BenQ DLP projector. Any help would be appreciated.

OK, I've got my projector and my desktop res set at 800x600 as I type this. Mame is set to switchres and the res is set at 800x600.
Now whenever I try to start Rave Racer, I get an error that says "Unable to create the Direct3D Device(8876086C)"
What is going on?

Just a shot in the dark, but try forcing the refresh rate. Start with 800x600@60 and see if that works.
