DU Update: Something old and something new
#307686 - 04/23/13 04:33 AM

Jesse F. (a.k.a. Tom Braider) loaned me a tiny "Old & New" tv console from Japan to dump, the Taito Nostalgia 1 version. It has old and new versions of Legend of Kage and Gladiator. I don't usually mess with console stuff but I'll make an exception for these Taito and Namco Nostalgia handhelds because I dig them. If you own Taito 2 or either of the Namcos and will loan it to me to dump send me a PM. You can see a pcb scan and video here:

If anyone wants to send donations I can accept them through Western Union or if you are in the states you could send cash or checks. I got one today through Western Union thanks to Sonic. It's more trouble than a paypal click and they charge a higher fee but I don't get taxed so it's an option. PM if interested.

I didn't send it with the clear/thin plexiglass cover and cardboard (artwork) insert (I figured that'd be 4 less screws you'd have to mess with). I also kept (hoarded?) the blue switch cover (for those that may have noticed that in the downloadable screenshot scan of the pcb. It's made better than that ).

How did you get the 'Menu' to appear where you could choose to go back to the title screen/s during the game?

I'll bet it was holding one of the 4 buttons and pressing the credit button.

I'm not sure what the final product should look like then, the scan photos, but that menu screen was brought up just by pressing the credit button, you just have to wait until you are a few seconds into a game.

Something more like this, just without the forbidden connector.

Hey, not to beat a dead horse, but are you aware of the IRS annual exclusions for gifts?

Supposedly, a person can give a gift of up to $14,000 (for 2013) to as many people as they choose ($14K each) every year without either party having to pay any taxes. As long as the money is truly a gift, and the donor doesn't get back anything in exchange for it. More info...

http://www.irs.gov/Businesses/Small-Busi...s-on-Gift-Taxes

So basically, all the donations (gifts) should not be considered income under IRS rules as long as the amount donated coming from a single person is less than $14,000. However, if you resell boards that you've purchased and make a profit, then the profit is taxable, but you know this. There's separate rules for hobby income and losses though, and I think the tax rates are different.

My tax specialist didn't say that was an option, and I explained to her exactly what I was doing. Either way, I'm not taking paypal donations anymore.

Looking for the pcb pics linked at the sendpace (now invalid). If anyone might have saved them locally please set them up again somewhere for download? Thank you very much!
