Would be nice if someone clone and resell those. Those from the 80's?

No orange tips in those days.

I’m convinced Mario is a hobo.
He wakes up everyday in the same clothes, runs around in sewers, and collects coins for a living.
At the end of the day, he uses the coins to buy mushrooms

Hah, I totally remember that commercial and wanting one of those really badly. I ended up getting a gray, Beretta Model 92 replica that was reasonably realistic looking. I think it may have been from the second line of Entertech guns.

Looking back, it was crazy that something which looked so much like a real gun was marketed to children. I remember a friend had the Micro Uzi-looking one, and from a few feet away, in bad light, you could totally believe it was real. With a full complement of batteries, it even had some heft to it.

Started in '86 according to Wikipedia. They'd be illegal in most places today. At the very least, you'd need orange tips on the barrels.

That was changed after some convenience store got robbed.... out in California I think.

David Horowitz?

Maybe not a convenience store, but I was right about CA and David.

eta: As for a water gun in the shape of a machine gun... I had 1 (and maybe a 2nd one later) of those black plastic guns that had the 'clip' that held the water on top of the gun -- which always looked weird. It was the pump action one.

iow, the cheap version. If you wanted the SFX you had to mimic it yourself.

Bah! My toy guns were actual metal cap guns. One had a functioning cylinder and fake bullets.

Water pistols, though, were cheap little transparent plastic things in bright colors.

Yes, I had those exact same machine gun squirters when I was a kid, they even click like a real gun cycling through its rounds... but that was back before we started wearing helmets to go sledding, or biking, or skiing, or walking outside, back when kids could have a real childhood without a helicopter parent contingence team for back-up.

NO FAKE!

Sheesh. California ruins everything for everyone, and runs itself into bankruptcy doing it.

How stupid is it to paint the tip of a toy gun orange so people don't think it's a real gun.... when you could now just paint the tip of a real gun orange so people think its a fake.

RETARDED!

Oh, and why couldn't you just spray paint the orange tip black again.

MY GOD, is there no end to this insanity?

How far we've come... in Maryland a little 7 year old boy got suspended for nibbling his poptart into the shape of a gun. You can't make this shit up!
