#305894 - 03/17/13 10:33 PM

MAME4iOS 1.4 released.

There are builds for jailbroken and non-jailbroken devices.

On non-jailbroken devices you must resign the app bundle with your own Apple developer certificate.

Changelog:

  • Added in app touch layout customization.
  • Added hiscores saving (MKChamp patch).
  • Added switch to force 60Hz video for smoother gameplay in some games (use with caution since could broke other games like cave ones).
  • Added autofire with different speeds.
  • Added threaded video and thread priority switches.
  • Fixed some anonymous timers on sega and cave drivers to fix save states problems (AWJ patch).
  • Fixed 2nd controller mapping issues.
  • Fixed simultaneous analog and digital input on external controllers.
  • Added support for newer Wiimotes (also removed BTstack dependency)

Wouldn't MKChamp's patch be a deal breaker around here?

About half the listed patches would be a deal breaker around here.

(And why is AWJ's anon timers patch submitted to them but not mainline?)

It was submitted to mainline two years ago. Go figure

Let me explain... Really Alex hasn't sent me a patch...

I really like very much shadow dancer... Some user warning me about the issue on level 2.4 that was fixed on 147u4 so I fixed it.. I realised that had problems with save states also, so i began to dig and finally I have fixed the timers on 139 that were fixed by Alex time ago on 141u2.

Shadow dancer runs well now but other games from sega drivers keep broken save states because they really were fixed when Aaron did the work to modernise the sega 16 drivers on 146u5. Anyway caves ones works well now with Alex changes.

I stay there till I have time again to deal with the arm issues on newer mame builds and I try again to port a newer mame.

Yes I know you are not supporters from mame hacks like force 60hz. But this is a phone man and this option and hiscore saving are switcheable.. now shadow dancer runs like butter...

Have you tried the changes from this post to see if they fix your ARM issues? I'm told they fix crashing on the Raspberry Pi, at least.

I had already hacked Aaron memory management. Anyway this patch is breaking resource pooling in a first look...

The problem where I was stuck was related to 68000 drivers ... In my custom tiny build the cps2 games was broken... But I was able to run some games like starforce..

How this works? Is it free? Other wise it is worthless to me.

I'm using my grandma Android to play Andriod port version.

Good enough until you sneak in another one onto iTunes Store.

Basically you'd have to sign up as an Apple developer, then sign the app with your certificate and load it on the device as if it were your own code that you were testing. I think it's $100 to sign up as an Apple developer? It's not something you'd want to do specifically to run MAME on your iPad, you'd be better off just jailbreaking it.

Yes. It cost 100 bucks but you can install 100 devices. So a group of you can buy a developer account. Also I think some people are selling ad hoc certificates for 10 bucks directly.

But be aware, the signing last one year.

Damn Apple why you pulled gridlee... Business as usual..

Anyway I recommend to jailbreak the device... The problem with jail breaking is that maybe on newer devices and newer OSs it will be very difficult to find exploits.

I have been working on ios last time.. I think it's time to update android as well. Really I like the performance of newer a6 processors and ios programming, that's why I have been updating ios with a lot features and fixes that are missing on android. Really android is not a good os by now. The sound latency is really bad and the os performance is worst using similar hw, also a lot of powerful phones do CPU throttling broken mame unless you deal with governors and under clock them . It is a mhz war

Anyway, I like android openness not like Apple...

Why not just drop MAME for iOS then? You know it is too much trouble. Android is cheap and it Dev tools is free to use.

As I said on other reply, if you can choose, iOS runs better mame and it is less problematic. I'm a Apple user also, i like ios. It's funny but my wife is apple hater and android user. I'm tied to both platforms.

not to mention that iOS dev tools are also free...

You just have to pay $100 for a license to be able to sign and install stuff on a non-jailbroken device.
