I've heard that the HLSL sliders should be available in the sliders menu, can anyone confirm?

Are the settings saved to an ini file now?

No.
Adjustments are not saved on exit which is the same behavior in MAME/MESS.
Also, if hlsl_ini_write is set to 1 it seems to be saved as nvram file and not .ini or in the ini directory, and if the user has or chooses to have hlsl_ini_read set to 1 without an nvram file it will crash HBMAME
This is somewhat a concern because people will possibly submit false alarm crash reports.
I will have to check if the same thing happens with an svn build of MAME/MESS or just wait for u2 release.

I was hoping there wasan update to HLSL to support saving to ini. It sucks changing the settings in a text file then if you decide to make a change, you have to remember the setting and change it in the ini file after you exit the game. This is why I just leave it off.

An option would be to make real time changes using the slider menu and when you are completely satisfied with them and how things look, simply write them down on paper which you can input them into your main ini
Here is what I enjoy using. You may take it or leave it

Robert, I'm unsure if these are any help or assistance for you as the games are marked NOT WORKING and I couldn't get stack crawls with the binary, but I did get them playing the games.

That is the reason they are marked NOT WORKING. It seems whoever wrote the hack made a poor job.
