Megadrive Lock-on & MESS slot expansions!
#303711 - 02/03/13 10:57 AM

Small bits of accuracy added to the way we handle Sonic & Knuckles in MegaDrive/Genesis emulation and a (hopefully friendly) introduction to latest progresses with emulating expansion hardware in MESS for people not following development too closely

So when do we get a Power Base Adapter as a slot device, and 32x as a slot device rather than the current hack?

Eventually. First, I'm more interested into moving SVP handling to slot and to convert NES/SNES to slots as well (the former in order to emulate Konami add-on sound chips, the latter to remove the need of separate drivers for each on-cart CPU), then we will see

Hopefully we'll get to do this soon.

That doesn't even work - you can't play a MegaDrive game through a powerbase adapter, and the cleaning cart has no electrical connections.

What about shared folders? new [Re: etabeta]

What about shared folders?
I have very often problems to update my MESS PC-AT486 hd image. The files i want to add are too big
for a floppy disk. So i must use chdman extracthd and then add the files with WinImage.
If MESS can add a shared folder as a drive, i can put all files in any directory of my real harddisk,
start MESS at486, press TAB, select 'File Manager', then 'Shared Folder', search the directory and
press enter.
At the DOS prompt i type d: for the shared folder and can copy all file to the PC-AT486 hd image.

No. We have to go DEEPER.

Etabeta, thanks for the MESS updates and fixes. I'm still too dumb to understand MESS but I know I'll be making use of your updates in the future.
