Is CHD Convert fromv4 to v5 supported in the new CLRMAME?
#302470 - 01/13/13 06:19 AM

I'm trying to find out how to convert the CHD's using CLRMAME. The update says it can be done. Thanks for any feedback.

You need to convert with CHDMAN. CLRMAME cannot convert CHDs

Is there a front end for CHDMAN? I want something that will scan my chd's and update as needed.

4.09a "tiny update mainly for people converting chds to v5 and using full merged sets".

Maybe I read it wrong.

QMC2 has a standalone frontend for CHDMAN called (of course) QCHDMAN, you can get the Windows 32-bit version here: http://qmc2.arcadehits.net/Win32/MinGW-w32/
I forget about where you can get the 64-bit version.

it fixes chd handling for people that has already updated the chds. nothing to do with the update itself

yes, wrong interpretation, whatsnew.txt reads:

4.09a
misc: take over a set "bad dump" chd status flag for all parent/clone instances of that chd

Works like a charm! Updated ALL in 3 years. Thanks for the suggestion.

FYI: It crashes if using FULL Cores. Select 1/2 the Cores you have.

Tested on 2 PC's.

Of course you're aware that you cannot convert all chds to v5 without getting in trouble....all chds marked in MAME as BAD_DUMP will change their hashvalues when converting....

Really? Is this a bug in chdman v5 or by design?

Neither, it's because those dumps are old and need to be redone to modern specs.
