Decoding these things is a slightly different skill set from the usual emulation stuff - a bit more along the lines of an experienced computer engineer than a software engineer. We've had both hardware and software people decode these things in the past though, so it's not impossible to learn or figure out - it just seems like this one was a little trickier than usual.
I'd imagine I was pretty annoying at some point , but it's done now and we have yet another example of how to decode a die image. The more of them we learn to decode, the more experience we can draw from when decoding future images. And there are plenty more to do...
