HLSL NTSC/YIQ filter questions
#302383 - 01/11/13 11:52 PM

Idiot here. I have been messing around in the HLSL ini files with certain games, and discovered this "yiq" group of settings. Well, I am very unfamiliar with it, and have run in to a few issues. I have looked all over the internet and haven't found any clear answers, so I figure some here could help out.

1. The jittery effect (not the scanline jitter) you get around the edges of objects only seems to show when I am in the MAME menu. When I close out of it, the effect goes away. Does anyone know what I am talking about?

2. Is there anyway to fix the color? Everything has such a green tint to it, and dicking around in the settings only made things worse.

3. I can't seem to find a clear explanation as to what each setting (yiq_cc, yiq_p, yiq_y, etc.) does.

I am using MameGUI 0.147u4

The author of HLSL frequents Bannister's MESS msg. board. You may also find older threads there w/ the explanation. I believe those settings have more to do w/ the simulation of older computer screens or console output than arcade monitors proper.
