Probably been done a long time ago, but just wanted to see. If you don't like either then please do tell which one you prefer. I know there are other types out there (Akari, Time Soldiers hexagonal shaped), even the flight-stick/"Tron" style.

Bat-style sticks are a strange Americanism, Japanese-style Sanwa balltop all the way! Australia has its own strange variation on the balltop, the "MCA stick" which is known for being virtually invincible due to its tough construction and use of a rubber boot rather than springs for supplying most of the centring force. People who grew up with them love them, and there are people who can't play fighting games on anything else. I like them for vertical shooters, but give me a clean Sanwa for a fighting game any day.

Funny, I voted for bats, because my Hot Rod has them and that's what I've been using for years. If I were building a panel from scratch, though, I would probably get ball tops.

I voted ball top, even though on my cab I have bats. I like bats, but there's something about the feel of a ball top, especially when playing Pac Man or Dig Dug. But for fighting games, or games with a lot of action, the shape of a bat is necessary when your hand needs to switch from the palm-on-top to a more "side grip" to really throw the stick around.

The only game I'd prefer a bat on is Mortal Kombat because I use both hands on the stick to do Raiden's saggybobbaway body thrust. But I could put up with a bat on all fighters so long as the throw isn't too big, like it is on Happ competition types, which again isn't much of a problem on MK but that's about it (for example, the down-up move in MK, if you have a big dangle dick joystick with a retardly huge sized throw, you can pull it down and release and it will bounce back and register an up move so it makes that move quicker and easier). Tight throw is almost always better. MK is an exception.

That's the shittiest looking joystick I've ever seen though. Absolutely the fugliest. I want to throw it into the molten metal pool at the end of T2.

It's an animation someone made of this outstanding citizen.
I thought it was hilarious. I find it MORE hilarious that our infamous Trekkie, mother rapist was disturbed by it.
