There are probably a fair few people here using 1920x1200 on 16:10 LCDs (e.g. the popular Dell 24" displays, the old 17" MacBook Pro with high-res option, etc.). Yeah, I’m at that resolution, so I voted 1920x1080, but I don't browse maximised – I keep it in a window of about 1024x768 (actual content area, not including toolbar/status bar/tab bar/scroll bars/dick bars/etc.).

OK. If people are at 1920x1200 then answer with 1920x1080. If you always browse max windowed around 1024x768 then answer 1024x768. Thanks for clarifying options.

I should have added, if you use greater than 1920 wide then answer with 1920 wide. For the purposes I need the data for it's "at least 1920 wide" for the top poll item...

...but I zoom it in a fair bit, to not be wasting the width.

The giant videos at the bottom have frequently been wider than the screen because of that.

By "fair bit," I mean the "stardate 1514.0" image is close to the full width as viewed.

Just for the record, I hate the giant videos at the bottom of each thread, regardless of the resolution. And they especially suck when I'm using the browser on my Android phone.

Eh, 1366 x 768.

Off-Topic (sorry): My laptop monitor has recently taken to powering down/going black at certain times -- when it really shouldn't. This happened the other day after exiting a game. When I played the game again it never came up... I had to use Alt+Tab to get it to switch, the screen would stay black, if I'd move the mouse it would go back to the desktop. There wasn't anything regarding the game on the task bar -even though I could hear it running. It almost makes me think there is something wrong with the lcd inverter. Then again, I'm no where near an "expert" on this sort of thing.

'Guess I might be using my laptop a little too much. A few hours at home, a few hours at work.... I know that can't be good.

Er, so, anyway. I went looking on my system to see if something might've been changed to be causing this problem, that's where I came across the resolution and thought I might as well post it here.

Totally agreed. Especially when the load hangs on 'em.

I need to get around to mobile support. Been playing around with it, but this software is a little too old/custom for easy add-ons. Apparently TapaTalk is compatable with UbbThreads 8 due out soon, If Smit is committed to this software I would consider helping out/springing for an upgrade.

From what I've gathered, if upgrading means losing all post, registrations and anti hacker hacks then we're never upgrading. I'll take this version to my grave.

That's a good point, I do the same. I've tried to run full screen, but a lot of sites aren't optimized for that resolution. It's a little disconcerting reading an article where each paragraph fits on a single line.

It doesn't necessarily mean that. From what I understood the migration tools weren't supported for versions this old. Making a migration tool is just a pain in the ass, but it can be done...something I'd be willing to do. All the custom anti-hacker stuff can be ported by hand, the rest is most likely included in newer versions of the software.

I wouldn't want any moves that destroyed messages/users/mods/etc. I'd want to continue this forum running until every last detail was ported and tested to your satisfaction, of course. Even space penis compatibility.

If you can actually do all that and are willing to then feel free to do it, set up in a different test directory.

Willing to, and planning on it. Just curious how attached you are to this software. I'd probably wait until version 8 came out (Tapatalk support) if you are dead set on ubbthreads. If not, I have a few other free software suites in mind. I just don't know which ones I can make look as unique as our setup in a timely manner...(OldSkool support or NoSkool.)

Whatever it is the user base/passwords/old posts/boards have to convert right over pasted into the database. If it's something where people have to re-register then no way.

Too embarrassed at the moment. Half is taken up with jtag burners, a laptop running wireshark, and 10 different ARM dev boards. The other half is having a tea party with lala-loopsys and polly pockets...

Yeah...not doing that again. My goal is to tweak until it's seamless, or not to do it at all. I think we're both on the same page with that.

Heh, those Dell 30" Ultrasharps are nice, but I'm using a Samsung 32" 6000 series TV for my main monitor at 1920x1080. I have a 27" Samsung monitor next to it at 1920x1200. I actually put a 40" Samsung on there to see what it was like and as you'd guess, it was ah too big to work on laugh. But when I sat back in my chair it made for nice Blu-ray viewing.

Been collecting 4 years off worth of Future Pinball tables this weekend and they look great at 32".

Mostly due to this poll and the size of the top of this forum, I picked up a 23.6" external monitor for my
laptop and now run at 1920x1080 while using the laptop's 1366x768 screen as an extended display for
ST:TNG on netflix. Thanks.

I've been watching a lot of TNG lately too, set my DVR up to record it whenever it is on television. This forum and Smitdogg is likely to blame

Ok, so I usually just lurk around these parts, but I felt compelled to add the ubiquitous "me too" 1024x768 on a ViewSonic 17 CRT. There also happens to be a Commodore 1541 Disk Drive hooked up to this PC, I'd think that counts as "old school".
