Proper settings for vertical games

OK I just got a new stand for my 16:9 led monitor so I can rotate it for vertical games. I have mame all set up where it will rotate the vertical games automatically and I just turn my screen to portrait. My question is it just looks so large compared to when I play the same game in landscape mode. Just wondering if this is normal? I just want to get it as accurate as possible. I attached my mame ini so you can take a look at it and see if I have the vertical games to their true native aspects.

you might wanna set artwork_crop 0 so it doesn't butcher your artwork.

Yea I know but then the playing field is to small. I don't mind the butcher artwork. It still fills in the top and bottom black bars.

Thanks for the info. I guess I just have to get use to playing vertical games now. lol. Actually was playing galaga (vertical) and was on my first guy with 240,000 and finally died and saved the game. Was getting late and had work in the morning. Will finish the game later tonight.

This reminds me about GameEX having an auto rotation option in the setup wizard

Or have it do it automatically like the plugin supported by mala.

That's awesome, although it seems like you could accomplish the same thing with a lot fewer moving parts by just using a really big monitor.

Sure can da old man shows you how to do it on BYOAC. I just can't find the exact thread.

Actually I need to find that thread because I still have a few parts for the project and lost eh bookmark. This was like over a year ago.
