Alternate Atari Pong flyer
#297522 - 10/14/12 03:50 PM

A friend of mine fished out this Japanese web site that shows thumbnails of several Namco/Atari flyers. Most I've seen before, but not the Pong flyer or Table Breakout flyers. The Japanese Galaga flyer is a nice find too.

Give Dan some time and he'll eventually come across flyers like those which will eventually be on TAFA.

That is if they are still in business these days. In an ideal scenario, that would be great, but for example when Atari closed its operations, last thing on any employee's mind (managers and executives) that day is someone gathering all documents for some historical museum artifact. safestuff was able to get access to one of the Atari offices and save a fair number of items being thrown away. Actual photos online that show what some of the Atari offices looked like just days after Atari closed.

One of the things safestuff saved was one of the folders that had many of the Atari's flyer prints. These were eventually auctioned later and many are now in hands of Dan (TAFA maintainer).

Other items also rescued, but eventually auctioned later were cab stock photos that were used on some of the flyers. The entire collection that could have been in a museum can now be considered "torn apart", but better than simply being discarded into a landfill by this time which is what would have happened to many of the items in Atari's closed headquarters back in 1990s.

The cab stock photo with models for the Atari flyer...

...one of many stock photos rescued by safestuff years ago, is the actual stock photo I now have in my flyer collection.
